The 31st Forward Support Battalion was created in 1972, but has traces dating back to 1922.

Reorganization efforts have led to the creation of two new units now based out of Enterprise. They are the 1-131st Forward Support Company and the 1-131st CAV.

Outgoing Commander, LTC Nick Medley says members of his Battalion have traveled to Mississippi to help during Hurricane Katrina, mobilized more than 150 soldiers in the war overseas, and became an intrical part of rescue efforts following the Enterprise tornado in March 2007.

"I was the task force commander down here and commanded all the troops, LTC Medley said.

"We helped during search and recovery. And of course with TCP, traffic control points. And we did everything until we could get the school secured and settled."
