The state legislature recently approved a bill which will make it easier to prepare sites for new industry.
At the Yancey Parker industrial park in Enterprise, Viking Lifts Incorporated and C.E.P. Corporation are expected to immediately reap the benefits of the bill.
The industrial development grant program has been on the books for several years, but it was unfunded.
$2 million dollars will be appropriated annually. Site preparation is a recruitment tool to get companies to locate in Alabama.
"It’s another way of lowering cost. It’s a great recruiting tool, and we are helping locate business to Alabama and job creation," said Frank Thompson, Industrial Development Corp.
The funding will come from the Alabama Capital Improvement Trust Fund.
