A detailed program to plan downtown Dothan renovations was approved Tuesday by the commission.
City officials hope this plan will specifically address parking concerns and building appearances.
More than $102,000 will be spent on developing the plan, which will be done by HNTB.
City officials say that by developing a visual picture it will be easier to promote and sell the city to visitors.
"The whole purpose is to attract private investors to come in and do that, and the best way to do that is to show them the vision so they can buy into it," said Mike West, Dothan City Manager.
