TUSCALOOSA, Ala. Authorities are investigating a string of small fires at a University of Alabama dorm.
At least four small trash can fires have erupted at Burke Hall West. The fires have caused little damage, but plenty of concern on campus.
Tuscaloosa Fire and Rescue Service Captain John Brook says the latest fire was reported at about 4:20 a-m Sunday. Fires were found on the second-floor bathroom at the dorm. However, they were so small, firefighters carried the trash cans outside or extinguished them in a sink.
Brook said the fires are under investigation.
These fires came after similar fires were reported in a third floor hallway early Friday morning.
A university official said police are stepping up patrols around the dorm. They have also discussed the consequences of setting fires with residents.
