Authorities believe a rape suspect targeting female realtors could be in Dothan area.
The man has been on the loose for more than fifteen years, assaulting his victims in both Colorado and Alabama. Some realtors in Coffee County think he's now harassing them.
Authorities say the man calls his victims from a pay phone then tries to lure them to a private place.
"The suspect's MO was to contact a real estate female and ask her to show him a house. He then raped her," said Capt. Mike Lolly, Enterprise police dept.
Quite a few realtors in Enterprise have been receiving obscene phone calls from a man they fear could be him.
Although authorities in Tuscaloosa say the suspect is most likely in the Wiregrass local authorities do not have any reason to believe the calls are being made by the same man.
Investigators with the Tuscaloosa police department have released a composite drawing of the suspect.
He is described as a white male in his 50s or 60s with reddish skin on his face and hands.
Every realtor has been told to stay on the look-out.
“Have the client come to the office. If possible, take someone with you if you have to. Always keep your cell phone on. Let someone in your office know where you're going and when to expect you back," said Margaret Martin, Dothan Assoc. of Realtors.
Authorities have reason to believe the man is now starting to target people who place newspaper ads or sell products online.
The man is also known to carry a firearm and a knife.
He is considered dangerous and often tells his victims he is a college professor or an athlete.
Anyone who thinks they have come in contact with the suspect should call local authorities.
