Residents in one Wiregrass County may soon be paying a sizeable increase for garbage service.
The Coffee County Commission opened just one bid submitted to handle trash pick-up when the new fiscal year gets underway in October.
Current contract holder Mark Dunning Industries did not submit a renewal contact. However, Abbeville-based Arrow Corporation submitted a bid of around $78,000 a month.
County officials believe that would increase the average residential rate from $11.50 to more than $18 a month.
The county commission tabled any action. The board will discuss the matter during a planned workshop session next Tuesday at 1:30 p.m. at the Coffee County governmental complex in New Brockton.
