Opening arguments got underway at the Geneva County Courthouse in the Richard Jenkins murder trial.

Jenkins and the victim, 22-year-old Mike Brown, allegedly met for a drug deal on the night of March 20, 2004.

Brown was later found dead inside his car. He had been shot in the head.

Jurors deliberated less than an hour Thursday before finding Jenkins guilty. The judge sentenced Jenkins to life in prison without parole.
