Over the objections of defense lawyers, jury selection has been postponed in Elba for the murder trial of a northwest Florida man.
In December of 2004, Richard Taylor of Defuniak Springs was charged in the death of 39-year-old Joseph Finkley.
Finkley had been missing for 12 days before his body was found floating in a pond in Kinston.
The 45-year-old Taylor had reportedly been at a party with Finkley shortly before the disappearance.
Monday, prosecutors told the court that they are still waiting on crime scene evidence from the department of forensics.
However, the defense claims Taylor has been in jail for more than a year-and-a-half, and has been denied his right to a speedy trial.
The court moved the trial to its fall docket.
