Marianna Cave Diver Found

Scuba divers missing in caves seldom get out alive.

But Mark Orr beat the odds when he was rescued six hours after getting lost.

A certified cave diver from Pensacola found him Saturday night in a chamber with an air pocket.

Orr was separated from two other divers on a cave expedition in the Chipola River.

He was not able to find the guide rope that's used to find the way out. However, he remembered the chamber with an air pocket that they had explored earlier.

Orr reached it with only enough air in his tank for a few more breaths.

According to a scuba diving web, the Mississippi man is only the fourth person found alive out of nearly 500 divers reported missing in caves in Florida, Mexico and the Caribbean since 1960.
