Council members in Troy are hoping to ban the sale of alcohol near churches and schools.
The issues been tabled, but some officials hope to prohibit alcohol sales within 500 feet of churches and schools within Troy’s downtown square.
Mayor Lunsford hopes this won't affect businesses that currently sale alcohol in that area.
However, there is a Alabama supreme court ruling that could prohibit the 'grandfather' clause.
