Friends of Fort Rucker Coalition

A group of local businessmen and government officials have recently returned from Washington, DC.

They were in the nation's capitol to present an agenda to Alabama's Congressional Delegation, as part of the Friends of Fort Rucker Coalition.

The focus of the trip was to discuss ways to avoid base closures. There are current proposals that could eventually shut down 25 percent of the country's military installations by 2005.

Ozark Mayor Bob Bunting participated in the trip. He said the group feels confident about their strategic plan.

The federal budget for 2003 funds six helicopters and three military projects at Fort Rucker.
