In the last few days, a man and woman have passed bad checks at two used car lots in Geneva similar to the bogus check cashed at a Dothan service station.
The female suspect has been identified. She is 43-year-old Elizabeth McCarty of Odessa, Texas.
The other suspect is an unidentified male. Police believe him to be in his 50s or 60s. In each instance, he has used a counterfeit check from the Troy Bank and Trust Company.
In addition to Dothan and Geneva, the suspects have reportedly used the phony checks in Mobile and in Columbus, Mississippi.
