Young men from all over the Wiregrass will be in Dothan this week for the inaugural Boys to Men Summit with special guest and Motivational Speaker Stedman Graham.

There was nervous laughter on the part of several participants as Stedman Graham asked them to describe just who they were. This, just after the kickoff of the first ever Boys to Men Summit, aimed at providing young men with the vision they need to become individuals, free of the route society might have picked for them, long before they were born.

"I just think it's so important to be able to show young men that it's possible to be anything they want to be if they understand the process to know how to do that," Graham said.

Graham developed a nine-step process for success in his books and while talking about youth entrepreneurship in Dothan, Graham and Event Organizer Rosalind James first went over the idea for this youth summit.

"They wanted to know if there was some kind of program that I could establish to put young men’s energies in a positive direction," James explained.

Graham used the students themselves to teach a lot of life principles to each other, like the importance of love, and vision, even offering two Oprah tickets to whoever could name the most things they loved. The winner had 38 in 30 seconds, but will leave with more than tickets.

Ticket Winner Tyrome Brown said, "Everybody needs some help, so I might need help and another person might need help. So, I think it's good that we can come together and help each other."

Participant Adderley Zimmerman said, "This like helps me. Sometimes I feel like giving up, but things like this, it makes me want to keep on pushing. You see, if I keep on pushing, younger generations are going to look at me."
