From the west side, to the north side, Carmike Cinemas is one step closer to relocating to the Dothan Pavilion on Highway 231.
"I'm glad they're building news business in Dothan. We don't go to the movies that often, but I think anything new that comes to Dothan is good," Bobbie Dombrosky of Dothan said.
After more than 30 years at the Ross Clark Circle location, the theater will no longer be known as Circle West, but instead, The Carmike 12.
"I think it'll be nice. It's a good location for it to be in and it will bring entertainment for the young people. It's a good think coming to Dothan," says Ella Sistrunk, also of Dothan.
Workers at Circle West say they are excited about relocating to the Dothan Pavilion.
They say they are expecting larger crowds and better shows.
Director of Marketing for Carmike, Dale Hurst says, "We always hate to close a theater for any reason, but we're very proud to make this kind of move.”
The new theater will be showcasing 12 screens with stadium seating.
"Circle West is old, so I think it's good they are getting a new place and relocating," says Lauren Parrish, another resident of Dothan.
But, there is one special request; "More movies for children would be good," says Erin Smith, also of Dothan.
Hurst tells News 4 Carmike Cinemas does not plan to convert the old Circle West into a discount theater.
City leaders have not commented on what their plans are for the building.
The Carmike 12 is set to open this year, in late fall.
