Dothan city officials are looking to fill a job position they've had vacant for some time now.
A committee made up of Mayor Thomas, and commissioners Larry Matthews, and Paul Lee were chosen to help put together the guidelines the new equal employment opportunity commissioner chosen would have to fill.
The EEOC officer will be required to report to city manager Mike West, the city commission, and the personnel board.
“When we walked out last Wednesday we were in agreement that those were the parameters and we wanted personnel to find the appropriate salary to pay the person we had no designs on setting that, we wanted personnel to find the appropriate degrees and level of experience so that we could have a person in place,” said Mayor Pat Thomas.
The item will be on next weeks agenda. The position is opened to the public, and the mayor hopes to have it filled within 90 days.
