A young local singer will soon be taking his career to new heights.

Eleven-year-old Calen Santos is one of 15 children selected to sing at the U.S. Open in New York City.

He auditioned last month along with 200 other singers.

His day to shine will be on either September 5th or 6th and of course it will be televised nationally.

Calen’s mother and voice coach are hoping that this opportunity will prepare him for a singing career.

"Maybe there will be a person that wants me to sing again in New York at the tennis open and maybe that will be another opportunity for something," says Calen

In order to raise funds for Calen’s trip to New York City, a yard sale will be held August 2nd, at Ridgecrest Baptist Church from 7:00AM to noon.
