Local Medical Center Closing Obstetrics Department

The obstetrics department at Dale Medical Center in Ozark will be closing.

Each year, hospital officials analyze services to determine what's working and what changes could be made.

Officials say closing the obstetrics department would not have that big of an impact.

Doctors say about 75 percent of the babies born to Dale County mothers are being delivered in other counties.

Officials made the decision Thursday during a board meeting.

The OB/GYN unit at Dale Medical will officially close August 31st.

i can not understand why the board members did not at least postpone a decision, and review all insurance reimbursments for the department such as nursery, pediactrics, and gyn services along with several other patients that are admitted to that floor due to no room on the second floor.someone please just look at the numbers.it would make everyone feel like this has been looked at more fairly.

I am very upset that the news in this area only reported one side of this. Anyone wanting to know the truth see next weeks Southern Star. It has a deeper view of what is going on.
