A Houston County man wanted for assaulting a police officer is behind bars now.
34 year old Tyrone Underwood of Ashford surrendered to authorities Wednesday afternoon.
He had been on the run since he got away during a drug bust Sunday night.
Assistant Ashford police Chief Eddie Ingram tried to pull Underwood from a car, but the Underwood allegedly slammed the vehicle into reverse and accelerated.
Ingram was knocked to the ground and dragged for more than 20 feet before rolling clear of the car.
Police say more charges could be filed in the case.
