With the 2006 hurricane season beginning in June, the nation's top weather experts gather in Mobile next week to compare storm prediction research and lessons learned from Hurricane Katrina.
Last year's Atlantic hurricane season was the busiest on record, with Katrina the worst on record. The category four hurricane made landfall August 29.
A spokesman for the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration said the four-day meteorology conference starts Monday with about 250 participants.
The major themes for the conference are better communications between those who provide weather information and those who use it.
NOAA’s forecast for the 2006 hurricane season will be issued May 22.
