Local High School Way to the Big Apple

Band students at Daleville High School are on their way to New York City

They are leaving early Wednesday and will make a stop in Troy on the way to perform in the State Concert Festival.

Once they get to New York, they will perform at The Heritage Festival at riverside cathedral in Manhattan.

"Alot of students have never been to New York City. For a lot of them, it's a first in their lifetime and will never get a chance to go again. So we're going to see lots of things, 2 musicals and all the sights. We're going to cram in as much as we can get in” said Mark Nichols, Daleville City Schools Band Director.

This is the largest trip the band department has coordinated in years.

The trip is funded by money raised through private donations, band boosters and fundraisers.
