McLeod Trial

Deputies testified Monday that a young rape victim was so badly beaten, at first they thought she had been shot.

Twenty-five-year-old Freeshone McLeod of Gordon was charged with rape and attempted murder after a six-year-old girl was attacked in October of 2001.

The child was found in some brush near her home. She had been severely beaten and investigators later recovered a bloody "wok lid" from McLeod's room.

The little girl survived the attack and though partially disabled, she is expected to testify.

McLeod is being held in the Houston County Jail under a $100,000 bond.
