Following his meeting with Alabama Department Of Environmental Management personnel, Mayor King says a paperwork error may have caused the state to issue a fine against the town.
The 51-hundred dollar citation was due to a reported unacceptable amount of treated wasterwater being released from treatment lagoon into the Pea River.
But the mayor says a possible error in the recording process prompted the state concern.
The state environmental agency has placed the Samson fine on hold for now.
The city will do additional water testing at the treatment lagoon to see if there is a problem.
