McNabb Back in Jail

An armed robbery suspect, who was released by mistake from the Houston County Jail, is back behind bars after being gone for 10 days.

Twenty-seven-year-old Ruben McNabb was accompanied by his attorney when he surrendered himself to jail personnel about 5:30 p.m. Monday.

Jurors were unable to reach a unanimous verdict in his trial on Feb. 14. A mistrial was declared and McNabb was returned to the Houston County Jail.

But, Sheriff Lamar Glover said a corrections officer misunderstood the outcome of McNabb's case and set the suspect free by mistake.

McNabb's attorney said his client was already visiting family in Florida last Wednesday. When Houston County authorities caught the error and told McNabb he had to come back.

McNabb has been charged with escape because he failed to return immediately to the Houston County Jail.

He also faces life without parole under the habitual offender act if he's convicted on the robbery charge.
