Wheels Turning for Draft Beer in Houston County

The wheels continue to roll to get draft beer sales within Houston County.

The county commission approved a resolution that will set a public referendum to see if draft beer will be sold throughout Houston County.

The issue will be sent to the state legislature, in hopes that each city within the county will be able to make the decision on whether it wants draft beer or not.

But Houston County District 1 Commissioner Curtis Harvey says it’s a decision that shouldn't be made.

He voted "no" for the resolution.

"I don't personally think that we should and that's what made it even more easy. Just listening to a majority of the population in District 1, we don't need any more beer than we already have," Harvey says.

County commissioners hope to have the draft bill sent through the June primary.
