Close to 100-hurricane katrina survivors marched on capitol hill today hoping to put pressure on lawmakers to finish recovery efforts that began close to 6 months ago.
Democratic senators joined many of the protestors in calling on the president to keep to his word and get the federal government to move more quickly in cleaning up the affected areas.
The category 4 storm displaced thousands of citizens in Alabama, Mississippi and Louisiana, many of whom remain out of their homes.
The federal government has already committed close to 80-billion dollars in hurricane relief.
An extra 18-billion is included in the new fiscal year 2007 budget released by the white house earlier this month.
