A groundbreaking ceremony took place Friday in Enterprise for the most modern farmer's market in Alabama.
The enclosed facility will be located at the intersection of North Main Street and Highway 134.
Farmers from across the Wiregrass are already bringing their fruit and vegetables to market there three-days-a-week.
Enterprise Mayor Kenneth Boswell says the city will pay most of the $300,000 price tag.
State Agriculture and Industries’ Deputy Commissioner Glen Zorn took part in the ceremony.
The new Coffee County Farmer's Market is expected to be completed by the fall of 2009
