The commander of the international space station said the crew is "doing fine," but they're saddened by the loss of their space shuttle colleagues.
Kenneth Bowersox said they know "everyone down there shares a lot of pain." He said they're worried about how everyone's doing after the tragedy.
It's the first public statement from Bowersox since Columbia disintegrated Saturday. He spoke with former President George Bush and former first lady Barbara Bush Tuesday.
Bush told the three crewmen, "We love what you're doing." Mrs. Bush echoed that, saying, "We're thinking about you."
The Bushes got a brief update on the Columbia investigation during a visit to NASA's Johnson Space Center in Houston, where they live.
