United Ways across the country are participating in a nationwide Day of Action on Saturday.
And the Wiregrass united Way's Day of Action program is to promote usage of the 211 lines in the area.
211 is a toll free number that people can call when they are in need of social service help, things that might not warrant a call to 911.
On Saturday volunteers from across the Wiregrass will meet at 8 locations from 10 in the morning until noon and at three local festivals as well, the Children’s Festival in Enterprise, the Tomato Festival in Slocomb and the Blueberry Festival in Hartford.
“Any kind of social services that might not necessarily need to be contacted through 911 they can call 211 and get information and referrals through the 211 system so we're trying to promote the program promote the numbers so people know how to use it,” said Jessica Steltenpohl with Wiregrass United Way.
For information on how to volunteer on Saturday, you can call the Wiregrass United Way at 793-9661.
