Beach Littering to Take $500 Bite Out of Your Wallet

Panama City Beach Mayor Gayle Oberst wants to ensure that the world's most beautiful beaches remain that way.

Mayor Oberst says Highway 79 leading to the beach is littered. The north-south route is a main gateway to the city.

He says trash trucks heading to the landfill is a big part of the problem.

The mayor is working with the Florida Department of Transportation in efforts to clean-up the route.

Panama City Beach police will start writing citations for trucks and vehicles that litter.

Anyone caught littering could be fined up to $500.
