It is National Safety Month and local officials are dong their part to help.
The Dothan Fire and Police Department helped educate parents Saturday on how to properly install car seats.
Other local organizations were there educating the public on home, fire, car, and water safety.
"It is not something you do in the forefront of your mind, safety is so important because 90 % of the time, accidents happen close to home," said Laura McDonald with Safety Day Organizer.
Officials say that if you teach your children how to be safe at a young age, chances are they will carry those practices throughout their life.
