Domestic Dispute Preceded Neighborhood Shooting

A man was shot in the chest in a Dothan neighborhood Wednesday afternoon and the suspect, Torey Jones, turned himself in late Wednesday night.

The events left a lot of people wondering what were the circumstances surrounding the shooting.

Christopher Drive is in an area just south of Dothan, near the intersection of Hogdesville Road and Ross Clark Circle.

As of Thursday afternoon, the indication of motive surrounding the shooting was a domestic dispute.

Jones sister told News 4 that she believed her brother recently discovered a certain child was not his own, but the biological father was the 34-year-old victim of Wednesday’s shooting.

Currently, the name of the victim in this case has not yet been released, but police say he is in stable condition.

A resident actually told News 4, she had heard a heated argument earlier this week that lasted for at least an hour on the street, but wasn't sure if it involved the two men.

Jones is charged with attempted murder and is being held at the Dothan City Jail awaiting transfer to the Houston County Jail.

Bond has not been set.
