Chipley City Council Opposing a Proposed Toll Road

The Chipley City Council has gone on record as opposing a proposed toll road linking Dothan with Interstate-10 and the new Bay County airport.

City manager Jim Morris says no formal vote was taken at a work session Thursday night, but council members authorized Mayor Linda Cain to draft a letter to the Washington County commission opposing the project.

The county commission has scheduled another public hearing on the project for the Monday evening.

The meeting is set for 5 p.m. in the Washington County Commission chambers.

More than 200 people attended a similar session hosted by the commission just last month.

A group called Focus 2000 wants to build a super-highway between Dothan and the Bay County airport in the next five years.

The work would be financed through a bond issue.

Well, ya cant blame Chipley, it is their town and they will decide what is best for them. But Im sure some Wiregrass people will think of themselves as more important than anyone and will try and dictate to the people of Chipley that its their way (more like Culver's) or else.
