TROY, Ala. (AP) - Troy University and the University of South Alabama have raised tuition and fees for undergraduate and graduate students.
Beginning this fall, Troy announced Thursday that it will implement a per-credit-hour tuition schedule. The new rate is $177 per credit hour for undergraduates and $200 per credit for graduate students. In addition, Troy will charge a $6 per credit hour service fee and a $35 parking fee.
On Wednesday, South Alabama trustees unanimously approved tuition and fee hikes for the 2008-09 school year. In-state students would pay $5,512 for 30-hours of course work - that's a $690 increase. Fees will rise 37 percent to $1,102 to help pay for USA's new football program.
Administrators at both schools said the increases were necessary to offset cuts in state appropriations.
