Troy University Announce Tuition, Fee Hikes

TROY, Ala. (AP) - Troy University and the University of South Alabama have raised tuition and fees for undergraduate and graduate students.

Beginning this fall, Troy announced Thursday that it will implement a per-credit-hour tuition schedule. The new rate is $177 per credit hour for undergraduates and $200 per credit for graduate students. In addition, Troy will charge a $6 per credit hour service fee and a $35 parking fee.

On Wednesday, South Alabama trustees unanimously approved tuition and fee hikes for the 2008-09 school year. In-state students would pay $5,512 for 30-hours of course work - that's a $690 increase. Fees will rise 37 percent to $1,102 to help pay for USA's new football program.

Administrators at both schools said the increases were necessary to offset cuts in state appropriations.

Fees will rise 37 percent to $1,102 to help pay for USA's new football program. Unacceptable. Football is an industry and should be separated from academia. Troy robbed its other campuses to fund football projects years before and what did TU-D get for it? nothing. I used to protest the matriculation fee when the people in ESJC's administration could not define the word without calling the library. now, i just admit defeat and recognize shoddy management when i realize it is cheaper to attend UA in tuscaloosa than go to T-Roy Tech here.

I was going to enroll for my Masters in August 2008, but I am a single mom and NOONE helps with grad school. I can't afford this hike so I will be choosing another college...most Master's programs are online anyway. You just cost yourself my tuition and I bet I won't be the only one looking for a good quality education AT A REASONABLE PRICE. For FOOTBALL? You have got to be kidding me and you published that....WOW!!! One down more to go.
