Investigators say Wicksburg resident Robert Southby has several aliases. He's also known as David Richard.
Robert Southby and his brother David Richard Southby are both unregistered sex offenders in Bonifay, Florida, and the Southby brother who was arrested in Wicksburg on child pornography charges isn't even an American citizen.
He's Canadian, and officials say he's wanted by immigration officials. Houston County Sheriff Lamar Glover says, "It's a complex case, but it takes time, it's not just something you can get in a few weeks. Fortunately, we have skilled investigators handling the case."
In his first appearance in Judge Steenland’s courtroom Robert Southby said he understood all charges and has confessed to the crimes.
Southby is unemployed, but in Florida it was believed he owned a pornographic video store. If found guilty he could face up to 200 years in prison, and gentry could face up to 99 years.
His bond has been raised to $1.3 million.
Linda Gentry, the other person charged in the case, is related to one of the victims. Her bond is set at $50,000, but she's asking to have it reduced.
“It's a case we'll seek the maximum punishment for. There will be no deals, we will have a trial and of course they are innocent until proven guilty, and once again I would like to commend the sheriff's department on the wonderful job they've done.”
In a search warrant at Southby's home in Wicksburg, sheriff’s deputies found photo albums, bags, videos, Web sites, and boxes full of pornographic material involving young boys between the ages of 13 and 16. Investigators say it looks like Southby made a business out of the pornography, but they're still figuring out the sordid details.
