Dothan area chamber of commerce businesses are ending the year with more than $40 million in sales tax revenue for the city.
A banquet to celebrate those achievements was held Thursday. The annual banquet had food, fun, and a live band.
It’s been reported that the City of Dothan has the largest sales tax revenue in the "state" of Alabama. But outgoing Chairman Bob Theune says the cities success also lies on more.
"We're trying to not work on just economic development. There are many factors going into that as far as public transportation into our children and what they are doing and how they are being educated and what the Chamber can do."
While State House Speaker Representative Seth Hammet who was also on hand says, "We're doing some things right in our state. We have an unemployment rate that's 1.1 percent less than the nation’s rate and we got to keep working together"
Next year the chamber expects 2000 jobs will be added to Dothan.
