Olive Garden and TGI Fridays are coming to Dothan. The restaurants will be constructed on a large empty lot next to Golden Corral.

The Italian restaurant that many residents have requested for years should be starting construction by next year.

And as for TGI Fridays, it should be a homecoming; the restaurant was once in Dothan before.

Chamber of Commerce President Matt Parker says that the project has been in the works for some time now.

"They've been looking at our market for some time and they're a publicly held company so, you know, that can only do so many stores each year. Those are the stores where they can find the right site and get the project going the quickest"

While city manager Mike West says this will definitely bring more revenue to Dothan. He says, “I think that's wonderful. Obviously, every time we add another venue for retail and shopping, it enhances our sales tax base in the Wiregrass and in Dothan. And with Dothan being the hub of economic activity in the Wiregrass, it's very positive for our community."

Before any construction can take place, architectural, development, and engineering plans must be submitted and approved to the city of Dothan’s planning commission. This could take up to 6 months.
