New Brockton Wastewater Treatment Upgrade

A grant request is being sent to the nation's capitol in order to upgrade an outdated wastewater treatment facility

Over recent years, the Alabama Department of Environmental Aaffairs has fined New Brockton for infractions. Several times' it has allowed too much treated material to flow into a tributary which eventually empties into the Pea River.

The city is looking to receive a half-million federal dollars to fix the problem and increase the capacity of the system.

If approved, New Brockton would have to come up with a $190,000 local match in order to get the community development brock grant.
