Bonifay Hospital Vote

The expense of holding the mail-in referendum is being covered by Doctors Memorial Hospital in Bonifay.

Tampa native Teresa Payne has been a registered nurse at Doctors Memorial Hospital in Bonifay for the last eight-years. She says the staff is dedicated but the 50-year-old facility is outdated and she would like to see a new Doctors Memorial.

This week, Holmes County Supervisor of Elections Debbie Wilcox Morris began receiving the completed ballots in the mail. Eleven-thousand Holmes County voters are being asked to extend a borrowing bond so a 15-million dollar facility can be built.

Hospital officials stress that voters are "not" deciding on a tax. It's a state bondand local taxpayers will not be affected.

By building a new facility chamber of commerce officials say it'll be a tremendous selling point in luring prospective industry to the area

Doctors Memorial has spent $12,000 in paying for the mail-in referendum. Holmes County voters have until 7:00 p.m on October 18 to get their ballot postmarked to the supervisor of election's office.
