Dothan utilities employees could be facing a permanent change in their work schedules.
City manager, mike west, initiated the idea to move employees from a five-day-a-week work schedule to working four 10-hour days instead.
The city has been considering the plan for years...but with the recent increase in gas prices, the decision has been made to try the schedule on a "trial basis."
Public works director, Jerry Corbin, says this plan would not only conserve gas, it would also save on over-time pay, and increase the efficiency of the work crews.
