MONTGOMERY - Due to hurricane relief efforts, Alabama governor Bob Riley has decided not to travel to Israel on Friday.
Riley, in a statement on Thursday, said the jobs mission will be led by Alabama House Speaker Seth Hammett of Andalusia and Neal Wade, director of the Alabama Development Office. He said the delegation of about 25 business and higher education leaders will spend a week exploring job opportunities and build economic development and trade.
Riley said Israel's high-tech industries as well as its defense, biotech and life sciences industries will be targeted for special attention.The trip is being organized by the A-D-O, the American-Israel Chamber of Commerce, the Birmingham Jewish Federation and Tech Birmingham.
