First Lady Laura Bush will be in Southhaven, Mississippi, today to talk with local school officials.
The topic of discussion will be educating youngsters displaced by Hurricane Katrina.
President Bush announced her visit Tuesday. The White House released a schedule that showed Laura Bush would be at Greenbrook Elementary School in Southaven at 12:50 p.m. Thursday afternoon and at Goodman Oaks Church of Christ in Southaven at 1:35 p.m.
President Bush has visited the Mississippi Gulf Coast twice since Hurricane Katrina.
DeSoto County Superintendent Milton Kuykendall says the school system had enrolled 97 displaced students as of Tuesday. The county school system is the second largest in the state with 27,000 students and is overcrowded.
County officials have estimated that several hundred Hurricane Katrina victims are in DeSoto County.
Kuykendall has said that the school district is committed to making sure that every displaced child gets an education.
