Lawsuit Filed Against Samson Mayor

A Pensacola attorney filed a lawsuit against Samson mayor Clay King. The suit is filed on behalf of Geneva County resident Stephen Oates.

Last month, authorities say King stabbed Oates at a DeFuniak Springs motel.

Police say the confrontation stemmed from Oates reportedly being with King's estranged wife.

The Samson mayor is charged with aggravated assault.

In his lawsuit, Oates is seeking damages in excess of $15,000.

His attorney claims that his client has been disabled and disfigured, and has suffered injury resulting in pain and suffering.

There's something going on in the background that we dont know about (or aren't suppossed to know), but, I hear there's more money exchanging hands than the press is reporting, a large under-the-table payment. Mr. Oates is not stupid.

First of all most of these comments are so utterly incoherent that following them are nearly impossible. 15,000 is an insufficient amount for the damages done by this slimeball. The very notion that several members of the Council would support this type of behavior is absurd beyond belief. The arrogance displayed by Mayor King in his insistence in running for re-election irrespective of his folly is the height of hubris. I hope he is jailed for at least 3 years. Anything less would be a travesty of justice

king and his wife are both wrong in this matter as well as the boyfriend.but the wife could have stopped it all it only went as far as she was willing to let it go with the boyfriend. but that was her lifestyle and everyone in samson knew it and never forgot it. she thought the king name changed her and made so much better then people in that that. she held her head so high. but a name does not change you nor give you class. these men did not have to do what they did they had choices to. but as a woman you would think she would have thought who all would get hurt through this. this is a sad thing for the children involved.

its bad enough for samson to the mayor in trouble with the law but when you have 2 members of the city council supporting him it looks like the town has more problems than they can handle. what the mayor did was wrong and he should have stepped down. these members openingly supporting him in the news paper is unreal by supporting your supporting what he did . the towns people need to remember these thing at election time. samson needs things to happen they can be proud of and people running their town that have some charter. they know they have 3 now that has no charter at all.

First of all, Clay King deserves to be sued for lots more money,I was hoping that was a misprint. Secondly, folks, please check your spelling and use of the english language. You're making all the good folks in Geneva County look ignorant.

I seem to remember the good people of Sellersville being very big on accountability once upon a time, noone makes or causes another to take an action, it is a choice, always a choice to do right or wrong...and yes sometimes we all make bad choices but still we had a choice.

wow.. the comments are really something. Steven Oats should re-think the amount he is asking for..then again maybe he just wants his medical bills of late paid and just has too much class to ask for more, after all money does not make class...hint hint Mr King...ask your family to go on over to the local walmart and purchase you some class.

Greed causes alot of people to show a lack of character. The King children are in a fight for money...even turning on EACH OTHER...They have been privileged for so long that they expect special treatment....even when attacking another human being. Why does everyone act so surprised? We continue to do business at the drug store and bank, furthering the money they get to make...continuing their monopoly in Samson. If you don't like them, move your business!
