Dale County is the first of eight Wiregrass counties to start giving flu shots. Those at high risk and over the age 65 were the first to receive them. Unlike last year's flu season, there was more than enough vaccine to go around.

Though the line started out long, and the average wait time was about 40 minutes, that didn't seem to bother anyone. In fact, within the first couple of hours, nearly 300 flu shots had been administered

Last year around this time, there were hardly any flu shots available due to a bad European batch. Over time dale county and other surrounding areas were given only 700 shots total. But on Tuesday afternoon they received 900 doses.

Tuesday's vaccinations were only for those at high-risk. Others in Dale County will be able to get flu shots at the Perry Recreation Center in Ozark on November 8

Wednesday, Houston County will be administering vaccinations from 8 a.m., until 4:30 p.m. for high risk patients at Westgate Recreation Center in Dothan.

On November 2, the general population will be able to get them at the same location.
