Marine Funeral

One of America’s few and proud was laid to rest Monday afternoon in Enterprise.

Funeral services were held for U.S. Marine Lance Corporal Carl Raines.

On Oct. 6, the 20-year-old was killed when a roadside bomb exploded near his Humvee in the city of Quam, Iraq, near the Syrian border.

Retired military serviceman, Rev. Jim Duhaime, says the 20-year-old touched thousands of lives and he did what he felt needed to be done to keep the world free of tyranny.

Later on, Lance Corporal Carl Raines was given full military honors at Meadowlawn Cemetery.

He's the third Coffee County service member who has died since the Operation Iraqi Freedom campaign got underway two-and-a-half years ago.
