The jury found Michael Lindsey guilty of attempted murder in the December, 2004 attack of Brenda Tinsley inside her Samson area home.
The victim had been slashed several times with a machete.
The 34-year-old defendant held authorities on a six-hour standoff before surrendering.
Defense lawyers said that Lindsey had a history of mental illness.
But, the jury held him accountable for the crime.
Lindsey will be sentenced next month. He could receive a maximum life sentence.
