Fifty-eight-year-old George Morris, of Eclectic Alabama, and formerly of Oskaloosa County, is charged with false swearing of voter information.
Investigators say although Morris was convicted of a felony offense involving the sale of illegal narcotics in Colorado in 1980, he registered as a qualified voter in Oskaloosa County in 1999 and cast a ballot in November 2002, a violation of Florida election laws.
Federal authorities say the arrest means Morris will remain in detention in the Montgomery City Jail, where he’s also charged with immigration fraud.
Morris is at the center of an international probe involving allegations he took part in unlawful sex with hundreds of minor females between the ages of 11 and 15 in other countries, including Vietnam, Thailand, and Mexico.
Law enforcement officials believe Morris poses a danger to the community and is a flight risk.
