Second Brother Arrested in Woman's Beating Death

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. (AP) - Authorities in Georgia have arrested the second brother accused of beating a woman to death at her home in Tuscaloosa County.

Phillip and Timothy Garrison are accused of killing 69-year-old Yvenna Gilbert by beating her with a rock during the weekend and stealing home videotapes. Investigators arrested 21-year-old Phillip Garrison on Sunday.

Authorities in Atlanta arrested 22-year-old Timothy Garrison on Tuesday.

Tuscaloosa County Metro Homicide Unit commander Captain Loyd Baker says the U.S. Marshals Task Force learned that Timothy Garrison had fled to Georgia after Gilbert was found dead in her home Saturday night.

Deputy marshals in Atlanta arrested Timothy Garrison at a friend's house at about 2:30 p.m. Tuesday and booked him into the Fulton County Jail. He is awaiting an extradition hearing.

Baker said the brothers broke the back door of Gilbert's home just before midnight Saturday.

Investigators say they have recovered the rock that was used to kill Gilbert, as well as the stolen videotapes, which contained recorded movies and television shows.

Baker says the brothers and Gilbert did not know one another.
