A report says Senator John McCain is seriously considering a 2008 bid for the White House.
The last time the Arizona Republican took a shot at the presidency was in the 2000 race against George Bush.
In an appearance Sunday at a fund-raiser for a New York candidate, McCain humorously ruled out a vice presidential post, comparing the job to his prisoner-of-war years in Vietnam. McCain rhetorically asked why he would want to be "kept in the dark" and "fed scraps?"
McCain tells the New York Daily News that he'll wait until after next year's election to decide his political future.
The New York fund-raiser was for Staten Island Borough President James Molinaro, who is running for re-election.
