Saturday was the 4th Annual Heritage Trail sponsored by the Elite Professional's Women's Club.
The trail began on Bunche Street just off Highway 431 with a ceremony blessing the trail of women dressed up in historical African American attire.
City officials attended the event, and an old blueprint from the 1950's was presented of the old Bama Dale neighborhood.
The trail is designed to illustrate the history of African American culture.
President Of E.L.E.T.E Kayotris Whigham said, “You have the girls who are called Julanis and the purpose of the Julani That’s, the name Thats given to us from our African American heritage and they will be donning the lawns; and, of course, Little Miss Excellence Queen, Miss Bronze and Jr. Miss Spectrum from Ashford, Alabama."
This was the first year that the queens joined the line-up of African American women.
