During the month of October Alabama grocery shoppers will notice more home grown fare lining shelves, in the produce section and freezer compartments.
Under Governor Bob Riley's "Buy Alabama's Best!" food product program, more than 1,100 stores statewide will display buy Alabama’s best posters in the front of the businesses starting Saturday.
Riley says the program is important to farmers, ranchers, state-based manufacturers and the state's economy for consumers to buy those goods.
The governor said, "We need to promote it. We need to tell the people of Alabama, 'This product was manufactured in this state. This product was produced in this state."
Discount coupons for recommended products will be featured in the state's Sunday newspapers and on daily TV during next month's celebrations.
